Lead Construction Engineer

Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is looking to for Lead Construction Engineer (preferably with Piping design experience) with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join our Operations business, based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and provide construction engineering support to the Project during the detailed design phase, ensuring timely development and delivery of Piping, Mechanical, and CSA construction deliverables in accordance with the project baseline schedule, established construction management procedures, and industry best practices

• Demonstrate visible and proactive safety leadership at all times, ensuring full compliance with WoodKSS HSSE policies, project-specific HSSE plans, and client safety requirements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Project Quality Management Plan and applicable Republic of Kazakhstan (RoK) regulations, standards, and codes, ensuring all construction activities are delivered in full compliance.
• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day execution of construction activities, ensuring deliverables are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations, project requirements, company procedures, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines during all design phases to influence and optimise design solutions, ensuring constructability, operability, maintainability, safety, and execution efficiency are fully considered.
• Review Engineering Detailed Design deliverables and provide constructive feedback to ensure technical accuracy, construction feasibility, and alignment with project execution requirements.
• Participate in site surveys, constructability reviews, and field assessments as required, providing technical input and identifying opportunities to improve execution methodologies.
• Represent the construction function during discipline engineering meetings, ensuring construction requirements, constraints, and execution strategies are effectively communicated and incorporated into project planning.
• Provide construction input into project schedules and execution plans, ensuring Engineering Job Packs are developed with due consideration for constructability, safety, resource requirements, and execution sequence.
• Develop and review construction method statements based on Engineering Job Packs and project requirements; facilitate multidisciplinary reviews, address stakeholder comments, and issue approved documents for execution.
• Develop and implement preservation procedures in accordance with TCO standards and project specifications to ensure the integrity and reliability of installed equipment and materials.
• Review Tender Documentation, input into the development of the cost estimates, review contingencies, opportunities and highlights risks

Qualifications:

• Higher technical education

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry
