ESG Consultant

We’re currently seeking a Consultant to join our ESG & Sustainability team at KPMG in Astana. In this role, you’ll support ESG advisory projects for major corporations across the Central Asia and Caucasus region, contributing to sustainability performance assessments, non-financial reporting, climate risk assessments, greenhouse gas management, and ESG data analysis. You’ll work as part of a project team, prepare client-facing materials, and help identify opportunities for improving clients’ ESG performance and climate resilience.

As a Consultant, you will:

• Support ESG advisory projects by evaluating sustainability performance and assisting with non-financial reporting aligned with frameworks such as GRI, IFRS S1/S2, SASB, and ESRS.
• Collect and analyze ESG data to support climate risk assessments, greenhouse gas management, and sustainability impact evaluations.
• Conduct research and analysis on ESG and sustainability topics across different industries.
• Assist in preparing client-facing reports, presentations, and other project deliverables.
• Identify opportunities for improving clients’ ESG performance and climate resilience.
• Collaborate with project teams and contribute to delivering ESG solutions for clients.

You’re a great fit if you:

• Have 1–3 years of experience in relevant sectors such as Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing, or Financial Services. Experience in ESG consulting or related fields is a plus.
• Have strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Have familiarity with Power BI or Tableau for data visualization — this would be a plus.
• Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Have a strong interest in ESG, sustainability, climate risk, and related topics.
• Have a good understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards.
• Have experience or knowledge in sustainability performance evaluation, climate risk assessment, or greenhouse gas emissions management.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Are fluent in English (Upper Intermediate or above), with proficiency in Russian and Kazakh.
