About the role
We are hiring a Mid-Senior Accountant to own complex accounting and financial close for North American clients. As a senior individual contributor, you will manage competing deadlines, resolve accounting issues, review supporting work, and communicate directly with client controllers. The role covers year-round client accounting and excludes tax preparation.

What you will own

• Own month-end and year-end close for assigned entities, coordinating deliverables, reviewing journals, and resolving outstanding items before reporting deadlines.
• Manage multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, intercompany balances, allocations, and consolidation schedules under client-approved accounting policies.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition schedules.
• Review AP, AR, collections, and cash application exceptions; investigate unusual transactions and escalate control concerns through approved channels.
• Prepare financial statements, management reporting, cash-flow analysis, and explanations of significant budget or period-on-period variances.
• Maintain audit-ready working papers, support external audit requests, and document accounting judgements for controller review.
• Strengthen reconciliations, approval controls, and close procedures; automate repeatable reporting without weakening review or audit trails.
• Review junior colleagues’ work, provide technical coaching, and lead client discussions on issues, risks, and close progress.

Required experience and skills

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three supporting US or Canadian clients and independently owning month-end close.
• A degree in accountancy, finance, or a related field, with strong US GAAP knowledge for US assignments.
• Proven experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany reconciliations, foreign-currency transactions, and complex balance sheet accounts.
• Hands-on ownership of revenue recognition schedules, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and audit support.
• Advanced proficiency in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics 365; experience navigating ERP controls and reporting.
• Advanced Excel, including Power Query, complex lookups, pivot tables, and controlled reporting models with validation checks.
• Excellent business English, confidence challenging discrepancies constructively, and experience explaining financial results to North American stakeholders.

Nice to have

• CPA, CMA, or an equivalent qualification; Canadian ASPE or IFRS experience for Canadian assignments.
• Public accounting, outsourced multi-client accounting, or experience in SaaS, healthcare, property management, or e-commerce.
• Power BI, ERP implementation, close-process improvement, or accounting automation experience.

Working arrangement

• Full-time employment, with local management, HR, scheduling, and equipment support through our Managed Workplace.
• Office based in Kazakhstan, with equipment provided, remote also considered.
• Core hours overlap with North American business hours. Close periods require availability for agreed deadlines and client review calls.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Kazakhstan.
