As an international British independent school in Almaty Kazakhstan, we are looking for Science Technician. Science Technician at Haileybury Almaty is expected to ensure high-quality educational support for all students to improve the quality of learning and standards of achievement. He/she should conduct himself/herself in an appropriate professional manner at all times to support and foster the aims of the school and its Senior Leadership team.

Tentative start date: beginning of September 2026.

Responsibilities:

• Offering day-to-day support to Science teachers in the Science department.
• Preparation of resources and assembling apparatus.
• Assisting in practical classes & carrying out demonstrations, where applicable.
• Carrying out risk assessments for technician activities.
• Setting up and caring for plant and animal collections.
• Collecting, checking, and returning equipment to stores.
• Checking stock, keeping stock records, maintaining resources, assisting with orders, and helping procurement department to obtain materials by local purchase.
• Organizing, storing, and checking the condition of chemicals and equipment.
• Checking fume cupboards, pressure vessels, and first-aid kits; carrying out electrical and other safety checks.
• General laboratory cleaning and repair of equipment.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of English at upper-intermediate level or IELTS not below than 6.0

• Relevant degree

• Relevant experience

• CV should be sent in English.

Work period: Full time contract with 5-day/40-hours working week from 7:30 to 16:30 with 2 days-off on weekends.
