CAD Evaluation Engineer

CAD Evaluation Engineer (Remote)

Storygold is seeking a CAD Evaluation Engineer to build the execution harnesses, benchmarking tools, and evaluation infrastructure needed to test AI systems inside 3D CAD and physics simulation software. In this role, you will bridge mechanical engineering principles (FEA, structural analysis) with Python automation pipelines that evaluate how effectively AI models perform technical design tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build, adapt, and maintain execution harnesses that programmatically interface CAD platforms and simulation solvers with AI evaluation and RL training frameworks.

• Design standardized benchmark tasks and physical ground-truth tests for CAD modeling, FEA, static stress, and thermal analysis workflows.

• Inspect, debug, and grade CAD models, feature tree failures, constraint errors, and geometry rebuild issues generated by language models and RL agents.

• Implement automated scoring scripts, deterministic validation checks, and reward metrics to grade model tool-use, geometry validity, and physics accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (recent graduates welcome).

• Sound understanding of core Mechanical Engineering simulation principles (FEA, static analysis, stress, thermal mechanics, constraints).

• Hands-on experience with parametric CAD software (SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, CadQuery, NX, or Creo).

• No prior coding expertise required—must be open, eager, and willing to learn basic Python on the job to execute scripts and maintain test harnesses.

• Fluent or proficient technical English (B2+ level).
