Position Summary

The Ritz-Carlton, Astana is seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to elevate the beverage experience across our restaurants, bars, and special events. The successful candidate will be responsible for curating an exceptional wine program, delivering world-class guest service, driving beverage revenue, and supporting the hotel's commitment to luxury hospitality excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and continuously enhance the hotel's wine program, ensuring a diverse and premium wine selection.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and food pairing guidance to guests, creating memorable dining experiences.
• Strong understanding of wine service, premium spirits, cocktail trends, and beverage operations.
• Drive beverage revenue through effective upselling and promotion of premium wines, champagnes, and specialty beverages.
• Maintain accurate wine inventory, stock levels, cellar organization, and product rotation.
• Collaborate with chefs and restaurant managers to develop seasonal wine pairing menus and special dining experiences.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and winery partners.
• Conduct wine tastings, guest events, educational sessions, and promotional activations.
• Train and mentor Food & Beverage employees on wine knowledge, service techniques, and beverage trends.
• Monitor beverage costs and contribute to profitability through effective inventory and purchasing management.
• Ensure compliance with local licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and responsible alcohol service practices.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging wine regions, vintages, and market developments.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sommelier in a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or upscale hospitality environment.
• Advanced knowledge of wines, wine-producing regions, grape varieties, vintages, spirits, and food pairing principles.
• Formal certification from a recognized Sommelier school or wine education institution
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail and passion for luxury hospitality.
• Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
