Billing & Insurance Manager

Location: Kazakhstan, Astana, Korgalzgyn highway 6, n p 8

We are looking for an experienced and highly organized Billing & Insurance Manager to join our international medical clinic.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full insurance and billing cycle, maintaining strong relationships with international insurance and assistance companies, and ensuring that medical services are properly authorized, billed, and paid on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage relationships and daily communication with international insurance companies and assistance companies.
• Process and coordinate Guarantees of Payment (GOP) and pre-authorizations.
• Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Coordinate approval of medical consultations, diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests, treatments, and other medical services.
• Prepare and issue accurate medical invoices and supporting documentation.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
• Handle rejected claims, payment discrepancies, and requests for additional documentation.
• Ensure that all insurance cases are properly documented and closed.
• Communicate with insurance companies regarding coverage, tariffs, approvals, and payment status.
• Work closely with doctors, patient coordinators, administrators, accounting, and clinic management.
• Maintain accurate records of insurance cases, invoices, payments, and outstanding balances.
• Prepare regular reports on billing, insurance cases, receivables, and outstanding payments.
• Identify recurring billing and insurance issues and propose improvements to internal processes.
• Ensure timely follow-up on all open cases and maintain control over deadlines.

Requirements

• Previous experience in medical billing, health insurance, healthcare administration, or a similar position.
• Experience working with international insurance companies or assistance companies is highly preferred.
• Fluent English — written and spoken.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently follow up on outstanding issues and bring them to resolution.
• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• High level of responsibility and confidentiality.

Would Be an Advantage

• Experience working in an international hospital, clinic, or medical center or in any finance, billing department.
• Knowledge of GOP, pre-authorization, direct billing, and claims processes.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Experience working with corporate clients.
• Experience with international assistance networks.
• Previous experience in Kazakhstan's healthcare or insurance sector.

About the Role

This position is not limited to issuing invoices.

The Billing & Insurance Manager is responsible for controlling the entire financial and insurance process of a patient's medical treatment — from verifying coverage and obtaining authorization to ensuring that services are correctly documented, invoiced, and paid.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, and results-oriented, who does not simply forward emails or wait for responses, but actively follows up and takes ownership of each case until it is resolved.
