Coating & Lowering Supervisor

Project: Pipeline Construction Project

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily field activities related to pipeline coating, field joint coating, coating repair, and pipeline lowering operations.

• Ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution of works in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and HSE requirements.

• Verify readiness of work fronts, including permits, materials, equipment, qualified personnel, and supporting construction activities.

• Coordinate interfaces between welding, NDT, coating, earthworks, lowering, backfilling, QA/QC, HSE, Engineering, and Planning teams.

• Monitor contractor performance, resource utilization, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.

• Track progress and support look-ahead planning, recovery actions, and schedule achievement.

• Participate in daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and field inspections.

• Monitor coating quality, surface preparation, holiday testing, coating repairs, and readiness for lowering operations.

• Support inspections, NCR closure, punch list management, and handover documentation.

• Prepare daily and weekly reports on progress, risks, constraints, and field activities.

Education & Experience

• Higher Technical Education in Oil & Gas Engineering, Pipeline Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Protective Coatings, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas construction projects, EPC projects, and onshore/offshore transmission or gathering pipeline projects; experience on large international projects is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in protective coatings, field joint coating (FJC), coating repair, painting, coating, insulation, passive fire protection (PFP), pipeline lowering readiness inspections, and coordination with construction contractors.
• Proven experience in field construction supervision, progress monitoring, work pack verification, contractor coordination, report preparation, and participation in final inspections is considered a strong advantage.
• Valid coating and insulation certification or an equivalent coating inspection certification is preferred for the coating discipline.

Knowledge & Skills

• Good knowledge of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, NCR/CAPA processes, hold and witness points, coating inspection records, holiday testing, surface preparation requirements, adhesion testing, dry film thickness (DFT) measurements, as-built documentation, and project handover/close-out requirements.
• Knowledge of the legislation, regulations, and standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan applicable to construction activities, HSE, quality assurance, industrial safety, as-built documentation, and work acceptance processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction drawings, and pipeline isometrics, review work packs, and identify constructability issues prior to the commencement of works.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and applicable project reporting/document control systems; ability to prepare daily and weekly discipline progress and quality reports.
• English language proficiency is considered an advantage for working with project documentation, international standards, inspection documentation, and communication with international contractors and Client representatives.
