Head of the Laboratory of Solar Energy

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and develop fundamental and applied research in solar energy, photovoltaics, solar-energy materials and devices, energy-conversion technologies, and related interdisciplinary areas.

  - Develop and implement the Laboratory's scientific agenda in line with the priorities of the Institute, University, and national priorities in renewable energy and advanced materials.

  - Achieve high-quality scientific outputs, including publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, intellectual property, prototypes, and other measurable research outcomes.

  - Attract governmental, industrial, international, and other externally funded research projects in solar energy and related fields.

  - Develop long-term cooperation with leading universities, research centers, renewable-energy companies, technology developers, governmental organizations, and industrial partners in Kazakhstan and abroad.

  - Identify promising research directions and technologies with scientific, technological, commercialization, and investment potential.

  - Ensure effective use and development of laboratory infrastructure, experimental facilities, and equipment, as well as compliance with laboratory, environmental, and research-safety requirements.

  - Develop highly qualified researchers, engineers, postdoctoral researchers, and students.

• - Provide overall scientific, administrative, and operational leadership of the Laboratory of Solar Energy.

  - Ensure achievement of the Laboratory's KPIs, including targets for publications, research impact, governmental and industrial projects, external funding, international partnerships, intellectual property, and commercialization.

  - Define research priorities, supervise the project portfolio, and ensure delivery within approved scope, schedule, budget, and expected scientific and technological outcomes.

  - Initiate, prepare, attract, and lead governmental grants, industrial projects, international programs, and other sources of research funding.

  - Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with leading universities, research institutes, solar-energy and photovoltaic companies, technology developers, and industrial organizations.

  - Identify promising technologies and projects and support the search for industrial partners, investors, and other financing sources for scale-up, demonstration, and commercialization.

  - Represent the Laboratory in scientific, industrial, and partnership discussions and contribute to cooperation with governmental bodies, funding agencies, investors, and international organizations.

  - Manage personnel, budgets, laboratory equipment, research infrastructure, procurement priorities, and other resources of the Laboratory.

  - Recruit, develop, mentor, and motivate employees; create a culture of scientific excellence, initiative, teamwork, accountability, and continuous professional development.

  - Ensure high standards of research quality, data integrity, research ethics, laboratory safety, and regular reporting of the Laboratory performance to the Institute management.
