Overview:

The Sports Manager at Coventry University Kazakhstan is responsible for overseeing the development, organization, and administration of university sports programs. The person is to lead, organize, and manage the university's sports programs, fostering a vibrant and inclusive athletic culture that enhances the student experience. This position is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of sports teams, events, and facilities while promoting student-athlete development, compliance with regulations, and community engagement. The Sports Manager is dedicated to creating an environment where sportsmanship, excellence, and student well-being are at the forefront, contributing to the overall mission, values, and strategic goals of the university.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the gymnasium and all university sports programs, including varsity sports.

• Collaborate with the student life department to integrate sports programs into broader student life initiatives.

• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation in sports.

• Provide support and guidance to student-athletes, addressing their academic, athletic, and personal development needs.

• Plan, organize, and manage university sports events, tournaments, and competitions. Occasional evening work, weekend work and travel may be required for competitions.

• Manage event budgets, logistics, and marketing strategies to maximize attendance and participation.

• Collaborate with the communications department to manage social media, website content, and other promotional materials.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for sports programs, ensuring they align with university goals and regulations.

• Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement among the sports program staff.

• Oversee the implementation of health and safety protocols for student-athletes, including injury prevention and emergency response plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sports management, athletic administration, or a similar role.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young adults of varying ages and backgrounds.

• A passion for sports and a commitment to promoting health, wellness, and student development.

• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and staff members.

• Proficiency in English essential, Russian and /or Kazakh language desirable.
